Baseball tickets are going to be a hot item in the Midwest for the rest of the season as points are acquiring tight in the middle of the division. A Wild Card berth could be on the line, and as of now, it’s too close to call for that spot.
Detroit Tigers
Currently:
All the excitement below them in the standings didn’t seem to have an effect on the Tigers over the past month, as they went 16-9 and appear to be cruising towards the division title. Their success is a team effort, as Ivan Rodriguez, Brandon Inge and Magglio Ordonez are all having fantastic offensive years. Justin Verlander has been a force on the mound.
Outlook:
There’s no reason to feel that the Tigers will collapse, as they’re solid from top to bottom.
Chicago White Sox
Presently:
The White Sox are in a bit of trouble. What once seemed like a solid hold on the Wild Card is now tenuous at finest. The White Sox stumbled to a 10-15 record over the past 30 days, and it would be worse if not for the efforts of Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye. Ozzie Guillen’s antics and resulting distractions haven’t helped.
Outlook:
The White Sox are still the World Champions, and they really should have the mettle to turn it around. They’d far better get moving soon though or they’ll be left out of the postseason altogether.
Minnesota Twins
Presently:
The Twins are on an incredible roll. They’ve gone 18-8 over the past 30 days, and that includes an eight-game winning streak and a sweep of the White Sox in Chicago. Joe Mauer is having an enormous year from the plate, and star pitchers Francisco Liriano and Johan Santana make the Twins awfully tough to beat. Baseball tickets are all the rage in Minnesota these days, and there are some very very good reasons for that.
Outlook:
It’s tough to envision any team continuing this pace long-term, but everyone thought the Twins had been out of it early on in the season and look where they are now. They also finish the season with a 3-game set against the White Sox, and that could decide the Wild Card.
Cleveland Indians
Presently:
The Indians suffered by way of another tough month, posting only a 10-16 record over the past 30 days, and it’s finding to be about time to put this season to bed and commence creating for 2007. Travis Hafner continues to be a bright spot, but the rest of this division is just too good to catch up now.
Outlook:
The Indians know how to develop a team, so look for them to rebound next season.
Kansas City Royals
Presently:
When you’re talking about the Royals, you need to measure progress in relative terms. The Royals went 12-15 over the past month, which is really not that poor compared to their overall record. Regardless, the season is over, and the Royals are basically playing out the string.
Outlook:
The season is over, but fans in Kansas City are loyal, so they’ll still use their baseball tickets to get a look at the future.

In a recent game between the Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins, Twin’s catcher Joe Mauer was shown by Fox Sports footage signaling to the batter what pitch the Tiger’s pitcher was about to throw. I am not certain why this particular instance of sign-stealing has gotten so considerably attention other than the reality that it was so clearly obvious what was happening.
I don’t know about you, but I have completely no dilemma with this whatsoever. I would even say that Joe Mauer would not be performing his job if he didn’t signal to the batter what pitch was coming if he knew. I mean, why wouldn’t you? Each and every one on the baseball field knew what was happening. The opposing catcher even changed the signs a number of times to mix Mauer up.
Sign-stealing in baseball is taught at a very young age and is nothing more than a basic element of the game. Of course, in baseball there are some things you just don’t do.
1) You do not reach into the 1st baseman’s glove and knock the ball out when he is trying to tag you. (Alex Rodriguez)
2) You don’t tip pitches to the opposing batter just since he is your friend or is from the exact same country. (Alex Rodriguez)
three. And you do not yell ‘Got it’ as you are rounding third base and the opposing infielders are attempting to catch the ball. (Alex Rodriguez)
